My husband preached an awesome message, (if I do say so myself), last Sunday. He talked about how too much of the time, and even more so at Christmas time, we are sentimental in our belief system...we are emotions based, how things make us feel, rather than truth based. This is why we are so broken in our ability to commit- to God, in our marriages, friendships, etc. The truth is rock solid, unshakeable, but emotions are transitory, fleeting.
He went on to say that at Christmas we like the warm, comforting feeling of remembering Jesus as a babe in a manger. But then he went on to say that we don't remember one another as babes when we celebrate our birthdays, we celebrate the age we are now, the person we are now. Revelation 19:11-16 is the Jesus we will see when He returns, no longer a helpless babe, but a Mighty Warrior God who is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. This is the Jesus, who's birthday we celebrate He came as a babe, but He grew up!
2 Timothy 2:8 Amplified Bible
Constantly keep in mind Jesus Christ (the Messiah) as risen from the dead, (as the prophesied King) descended from David, according to the good news (the Gospel) that I preach.
Rock solid truth...a great message to remember all through the year.
ReplyDeleteWow. That is profound ... and beautiful. Thank you for sharing your husband's insights. God speaks, and he listens -- and you transcribe so that we might receive.
ReplyDeleteThank you friend.
