Kitchen transformation…

I’ve blogged before about my wee little kitchen.  We are almost through with our total home repainting and reflooring project.  We couldn’t change the size of the kitchen, but we could change the look!  Here’s a bit of a kitchen before picture.  I know I have more kitchen pics somewhere in my hundreds of files of photos, but it’s almost midnight, and I’m too lazy tired to look for them.

Here’s the kitchen now.  New wood floors,  beachy gray walls (Miller Paint 0538), and the cabinets painted all white.  I want to add knobs on the drawers and cabinets.  I am also considering the butcher block countertops from IKEA.  I’m a wee bit nervous having butcher block around the sink area.  If you have butcher block counters I would love to hear what you think of them.

By the way, the “valance” is made with two $1 cotton kitchen towels from Ross hanging by curtain clips.  I love them!

If I can’t actually have a bigger kitchen at least I can have one that looks bigger, and I think the light colors have helped.

Still following,

Elizabeth

  1. HOW pretty!
I love the touches of red, as I am a red lover, too!
The grey walls are really pretty with the white cabinets--who knew?
I have butcher block on my kitchen island and love it, but it's not near the sink, so I can't answer you that. :)
Your kitchen reminds me of our last kitchen--galley style--it was really easy to cook and clean that kitchen--I actually miss it sometimes!
Thank you for sharing your heart of the home!
    Many blessings to you!
    Hugs,

  9. Greetings! This is my first time visiting your blog - I just became a Follower! Love your kitchen, and I think it's because I, too, have red accents in my kitchen! Ha-ha! Seriously, it's a beautiful transformation, love the curtains, little rug, etc. I also have that red KitchenAid tea kettle that you have! I didn't even take it out of the box yet. I guess great minds think alike. :)
    Best regards,
    Gloria

  11. I love your kitchen. I too have a tiny little kitchen. We replaced our counter tops with butcher block and I love it. It's very durable. I worried about it around the sink too but it's been in for 4 years and never had a problem. Come visit my blog and see them for yourself.

  14. So, so, so great! I love what you have done! I'm encouraged. I have been wanting to paint my kitchen cupboards too! The butcher block sounds like a great look, and since you look like the type to keep it wiped down well, I don't think you'll have a problem. I say, if you love it, do it.
