Someone spent hours and hours carefully cross stitching this little table runner.
When I saw it at the Goodwill for $1.99 it came right on home with me.
It hangs on what I now believe to be a tray used for candle dipping,
replacing the little red, white, and blue quilt that hung there for the fourth of July.
{Thanks to my blog readers who helped me figure out what this “tray” is
when I posted it on my blog and asked, “what is this”?}
I love the stitching around the hem.
When I see things like this I always wonder who spent their hours making this,
and who decided to toss it in the Goodwill pile?
Their loss is my gain.
Still following,
Elizabeth
I think about all the care that went into stitching the piece. So pretty. I'm glad you love it.
ReplyDeleteI always picture someone's grandson giving it to Goodwill because he didn't appreciate it. That is a very cute runner though.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely piece. I like how you've displayed it too. I'm showing a piece today that I've embroidered! I love the olden looking designs.

Such a pretty runner! I also love your banner! I have that exact same bike and the exact same basket!! I love Flo!! Can't wait till it cools off so we can go out and about again.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog, Elizabeth! It's an honor to write for MKs. I'm really enjoying it! I'll be in prayer for your daughter and her family. Hope everything goes well! Let me know if you have any specific prayer requests. God bless you, too! :)
ReplyDeleteHi again, Elizabeth! Just wanted you to know I'm now the newest follower of your beautiful blog!
ReplyDeleteBlessings and be a sweetie,
Shelia :)
in answer to your question..
ReplyDeletethe tablecloth and napkins were a gift from my mother; she used to conduct estate sales and found the set while organizing one and set it aside for purchase (for me). :o)
What a beautiful runner. So glad it found an appreciative home. It looks great on that rack!
ReplyDeleteI was the one. I spent hours, days, weeks, months, and years stitching cross-stitched pieces--couldn't afford any real pictures to put on the walls-- and my children and grandchildren will be the ones to throw them in the Goodwill pile. smile
ReplyDeleteHOWEVER and it is a great big however, my 6'8' son 41 year old son recently came to me and asked if he could have the cross-stitched Psalm 23 hanging in one of my bedrooms. So maybe one piece will remain in the family and be appreciated. Can't tell you how good that made me feel--
I do love the piece you found--very sweet!
I have a vintage piece with a similar pattern. Yours was a great find! Love where you've put it so you can see it often.
