Sweet, vintage table runner…

Someone spent hours and hours carefully cross stitching this little table runner.

005

When I saw it at the Goodwill for $1.99 it came right on home with me.

It hangs on what I now believe to be a tray used for candle dipping,

replacing the little red, white, and blue quilt that hung there for the fourth of July.

{Thanks to my blog readers who helped me figure out what this “tray” is

when I posted it on my blog and asked, “what is this”?}

006

I love the stitching around the hem.

When I see things like this I always wonder who spent their hours making this,

and who decided to toss it in the Goodwill pile?

Their loss is my gain.

Still following,

Elizabeth

  2. I always picture someone's grandson giving it to Goodwill because he didn't appreciate it. That is a very cute runner though.

  8. in answer to your question..
the tablecloth and napkins were a gift from my mother; she used to conduct estate sales and found the set while organizing one and set it aside for purchase (for me). :o)

  10. I was the one. I spent hours, days, weeks, months, and years stitching cross-stitched pieces--couldn't afford any real pictures to put on the walls-- and my children and grandchildren will be the ones to throw them in the Goodwill pile. smile

HOWEVER and it is a great big however, my 6'8' son 41 year old son recently came to me and asked if he could have the cross-stitched Psalm 23 hanging in one of my bedrooms. So maybe one piece will remain in the family and be appreciated. Can't tell you how good that made me feel--

I do love the piece you found--very sweet!
