We’re back from a couple of days by the sea with our youngest daughter,
who is home for a visit from the mid-west,
and our oldest daughter and her family who live nearby, here in Portland.
Portland is about 80 miles inland, so we are blessed to be able to go to the beach often,
something our youngest now misses when she’s in Missouri.
The weather was gray and rainy, but we enjoyed our time sea side anyway.
I immediately knew I wanted this lifeguard stand to be a part of my photo and verse this week.
Who knows how much God rescues us from daily?
I’m sure there are potential accidents, mistakes we make, relationships that aren’t healthy for us, that He rescues us from without us even noticing.
Then there are the things we do recognize and acknowledge He has rescued us from,
depression, a sin bondage, a situation we knew better than getting ourselves into,
so many things.
He rescues us because He delights in us,
because we’re His.
Thank God.

I smiled when reading about your daughter's visit...no, we don't have such views here in Missouri! I live near Kansas City--a good distance from the beach. I can imagine how refreshing her home visits must be. What a delight to "meet" you. Love what you are doing here...exalting the name of Christ!
ReplyDeleteObviously, where you were "beaching" is where I rejoice when I'm visiting family in that area. And I AM rescued so often, when rejoicing with sisters and others who were raised so abusedly and are now walking with the Lord, moment by moment. If we knew each other, I would just ask you to say "Hi" to "my" ocean when you see it.

We moved to Nashville from Springfield, MO. 3 years ago. My husband is from there and we spent the first 10 years of our marriage there. It was a blessed time of spiritual growth for us, as we were part of a large Assemblies of God church in Ozark. I don't know the part of MO your youngest daughter is currently in, but I enjoyed reading that there was a connection. :)

I've done a little research on the ihop ministry before, and read a book several years back (can't even remember the title now but it was on prayer :) from one of the founders, I believe. Very exciting for her. But Diane is right... the views there are not quite like home for her. Glad she got to visit!
