On Wednesday, my daughter and I both had hair appointments at my favorite salon,
which is located just east of Portland in Troutdale, Oregon.
My oldest granddaughter came with us and afterwards I took her to see the Troutdale General Store,
all decked out for Christmas!
The store has an old fashioned candy counter filled with the kind of candies I remember getting at
"The Variety Store" on the main street of the small suburban town I grew up in.
It also has an old fashioned soda fountain counter where you can have lunch.
But, best of all, at this time of year, there are three levels full of Christmas, Christmas, Christmas!
So much to see and oooo and ahhhh over.
They also sell old timey style toys.
I bought this cute little snowman stacking toy for our youngest granddaughter.
(And there's a little sneak peek at our Christmas tree.)
Oh my. I seriously have to get to Portland. Between all the places you show me and the t.v. show Portlandia, I'm smitten. :)
ReplyDeleteAn old fashioned general store with a candy counter and Christmas galore...that's my kind of place! What a wonderful day you girls had together! I would love to go out to Oregon and Washington one day and see the beauty!

So fun and pretty! The candy counter reminds me a little of Mast General Store in Asheville.
ReplyDeleteLove the Candy counter ~ such memories. Love the decorations too. I love this time of year. I wish I was closer ;-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! We have a store like that but their displays are not quite that awesome.
ReplyDeleteOh wow! That would take a few days to go through--just beautiful and I love the little stacking toy you got for granddaughter.
ReplyDeleteI know you are having a ball with family there--enjoy and soak up every minute!
Merry Christmas,
Dianne

The store must be in Troutdale....I keep making a list of the places I want to visit! We just came through Troutdale on our way back from Thanksgiving at Newport, but we had a 5-hour trip back to Eastern Oregon in the dark, so we didn't even stop at the Outlet Mall as I had planned. Beautiful images, Elizabeth!
ReplyDeleteI love that store! Think it's time for my sweetheart and I to head out there - or, maybe a girlfriend and I! Loved getting a peek at your tree.

Love to visit old fashioned stores, we still have a five and dime store here in KC. This looks like a wonderful place to spend a few hours browsing through all the Christmas treasures. Love the stack-a-ble.
