Flowers, French fruit crate and the best gift of all...

I already told you about how my husband bought me my dream camera for Christmas.
As if that wasn't enough, he said that God spoke to his heart to give me a love note
with some sort of gift for the 12 days leading up to Christmas.
One day he gave me the beautiful flower arrangement seen above.
Another day he gave me a gift card to use at one of my favorite antique malls.
There I found this French fruit crate...
the wooden crate that is the one I've wanted for forever in my crazy wood box/tote/caddy obsession.
This morning, on this second day of the New Year,
I've had some quiet time to reflect and to do some work on my 2013 calendar.
I decided that today was the day,
I needed to decide if I was really going to jump, and register for this retreat.
I've been procrastinating about it because...
I won't really know anybody there...
(I will have some blogger friends there, and one that I met face to face once,
but no one that I really know if you know what I mean.)
What if I'm the only unpublished writer there...
What if I'm the oldest unpublished writers there...
That's a lot of money to spend on myself with the registration, lodging and flight...
I'll be by myself, with people I don't really know, far away from home...
Excuses, excuses, excuses.
Every few days, the Hubs would ask,
"Have you signed up yet?
You should go!
This will be good for you!"
And so today, I signed up.
I'm thinking that the love and encouragement my husband gave me to do something I wanted to do,
 but was afraid to do,
may be the best gift he's given me of all.

  8. I have been reading a book by Ronda Rich and she wrote about the very things you wondered about. She is a great one for cheering a person on to do their dreams at any age. She gives examples of many famous people that started out just like you and at ages just like yours. I am glad that you are going and it will be worth every penny spent.

  9. God puts Barnabas in our path for a reason. I happen to have married one too. I love the 12 days of Christmas gifts, and I really love it that he encouraged you to go for it with the retreat.

I want to go to one this year, too. I am waiting (make that LOOKING)for God to direct me as to which one and where and when.
