Friday's Favs....Love is in the air

I wrote a post this week about how I beat the winter doldrums.
One thing that cheers me up is creating something or puttering around and rearranging things in my little nest.

This week, I decided to go ahead and give in to the fact that love is in the air.
It's almost Valentine's Day!
I chose to do my Valentine mantel in neutral tones, instead of the obvious reds and pinks.
I didn't want to tire of my mantel decor before Valentine's Day actually arrives.

I bought the small Xs and Os and the grapevine heart at Michael's crafts store and the large wooden X and O at Joann's Fabrics.
The large letters were bare wood, so I applied a quick coat of dark Old English, followed by some paste wax.
The small letters are chipboard and I just left them as is.
Both Michael's and Joann's have phone apps that give you their latest coupons which made this project pretty thrifty.

I'm really loving the kisses and hugs theme!
The grandkids, and even the Hubs,
gave me kisses and hugs for the number of them found on the mantel.
How many Xs and Os do you see?

It's almost Friday, friends!
Have a HAPPY, HAPPY Friday
and a BLESSED weekend!

  5. This is just lovely. I like the Xs and Os. My Valentine mantle centers around wedding photos, some cardboard letters and boxes from JoAnn's and a few of the Valentine cards my husband and I have given each other for the last 33 years.
