Now to Him Who is able...

It really made no sense based on present circumstances.
There's nothing dire or dreadful going on.
But that morning, my first waking thoughts were thoughts of despair and hopelessness.
I remembered, after the fact, hearing Joyce Meyer say that satan will try to set a negative tone for our day by capturing our first thoughts of the morning.
Now, I recognize that was just what was happening.
However, seconds after those gloomy thoughts, God spoke to my heart as clear as I've ever heard Him.
He spoke the words of Ephesians 3:20, and the words "Now to Him Who is able..."
seemed to be highlighted in bold print.

I was honest when I said there's nothing dire or dreadful going on,
but there are a couple of prayers I've been praying for an awfully long time.
Top of the list type prayer requests,
prayers for those I love.
In both instances, it has appeared that the answer was so very close,
and then it just didn't happen the way it appeared it was going to.
I got disheartened.
Maybe even a bit upset at God about it.
So, He highlighted the words I needed to hear.
The words that addressed some despair and hopelessness I didn't even know was growing in my heart.
He reminded me that He is, indeed, able to take care of these two top of my list prayer requests.
He is able to take care of those I love.
He is able.

still following,

  1. It's so true. I often wake up and am surprised about the negative thoughts in my head. And yes, He is able to care for your loved ones!

  2. Yes! And do you know that song or chorus, "He is able, more than able, to accomplish what concerns me today. He is able, more than able, to handle anything that comes my way. He is able, more than able, to do much more than I could ever dream. He is able, more than able, to make me what He wants me to be."

In the past, that song has been sung or played at JUST the right time in our lives. It's uncanny :)

May He bless, strengthen, provide for, take care of those you love in ways FAR higher than "YOUR ways", thoughts, dreams, expectations ♥

  3. Hi Elizabeth,
This is the second time in the past 2 days that this verse has been put in front of me. I know God is at work and He's reminding me of that. Thank you. :)
    God bless,

  4. Loved what you said from Joyce Meyer. That is so true! I have discovered it myself. I happen to love that verse. Priscilla Shirer did a lesson on it one time, and it really stuck with me.

  9. This is what I needed today. I hit a 'wall' of discouragement a few days ago. God ministered to my heart and this is confirmation that HE has it all in control!

  10. I love this scripture--I kept it taped to the bathroom mirror when my sons were growing up.

Yes, he is able and not only able but eager to take care of His children.

Praying for those requests of yours!

You always have an encouraging Word, Elizabeth. Thank you.

    1. Julie, I love this saying, "think what you're thinking about". It's so easy to just let our thoughts run rampant.

  13. What a great point about the enemy trying to gain a foothold by capturing the first thoughts of the day. I'm going to remember that and fight back with praise and Scripture.
