It really made no sense based on present circumstances.
There's nothing dire or dreadful going on.
But that morning, my first waking thoughts were thoughts of despair and hopelessness.
I remembered, after the fact, hearing Joyce Meyer say that satan will try to set a negative tone for our day by capturing our first thoughts of the morning.
Now, I recognize that was just what was happening.
However, seconds after those gloomy thoughts, God spoke to my heart as clear as I've ever heard Him.
He spoke the words of Ephesians 3:20, and the words "Now to Him Who is able..."
seemed to be highlighted in bold print.
I was honest when I said there's nothing dire or dreadful going on,
but there are a couple of prayers I've been praying for an awfully long time.
Top of the list type prayer requests,
prayers for those I love.
In both instances, it has appeared that the answer was so very close,
and then it just didn't happen the way it appeared it was going to.
I got disheartened.
Maybe even a bit upset at God about it.
So, He highlighted the words I needed to hear.
The words that addressed some despair and hopelessness I didn't even know was growing in my heart.
He reminded me that He is, indeed, able to take care of these two top of my list prayer requests.
He is able to take care of those I love.
He is able.
still following,
It's so true. I often wake up and am surprised about the negative thoughts in my head. And yes, He is able to care for your loved ones!
ReplyDeleteMe too! I'm glad I heard Joyce Meyer speak about that when I was watching her show once.
DeleteYes! And do you know that song or chorus, "He is able, more than able, to accomplish what concerns me today. He is able, more than able, to handle anything that comes my way. He is able, more than able, to do much more than I could ever dream. He is able, more than able, to make me what He wants me to be."
ReplyDeleteIn the past, that song has been sung or played at JUST the right time in our lives. It's uncanny :)
May He bless, strengthen, provide for, take care of those you love in ways FAR higher than "YOUR ways", thoughts, dreams, expectations ♥
Thanks, so much Rebecca.
DeleteHi Elizabeth,
ReplyDeleteThis is the second time in the past 2 days that this verse has been put in front of me. I know God is at work and He's reminding me of that. Thank you. :)
God bless,
Laura
God is good to repeat Himself to us, isn't He?
DeleteLoved what you said from Joyce Meyer. That is so true! I have discovered it myself. I happen to love that verse. Priscilla Shirer did a lesson on it one time, and it really stuck with me.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that I heard Joyce teach on that on her tv show once. It's helped me many a time.
DeleteThank you for sharing this,I really needed to hear this.I have been feeling a little overwhelmed and this verse helped me to put thing in the right perspective, our God is able.
ReplyDeleteBE Blessed

DeleteI needed this reassurance today, Elizabeth. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteMe too, friend!
DeleteSometimes I am struck by my moments of doubt or panic about certain situations. It has got to be the enemy. I pray Lord help my unbelief. Indeed He is Able. xo, olive
ReplyDeleteOlive, I have those moments too. Thank God for His Word to cling too!
DeleteI do have a dreadful and dire thing going on and this has encouraged me. He is able. He is able. I need to stop living like He is not.
ReplyDeleteOh, friend. I'm so sorry you are going through a hard time. He is able. Cling to Him.
DeleteThis is what I needed today. I hit a 'wall' of discouragement a few days ago. God ministered to my heart and this is confirmation that HE has it all in control!
ReplyDelete~Adrienne~
Oh friend, you can always pick up the phone or email or text and I'll pray for/with you.
DeleteI love this scripture--I kept it taped to the bathroom mirror when my sons were growing up.
ReplyDeleteYes, he is able and not only able but eager to take care of His children.
Praying for those requests of yours!
You always have an encouraging Word, Elizabeth. Thank you.
Thank you so much, friend.
DeleteYes!! He is!! Love this!! :)
ReplyDeleteAmen! Thanks, Gina!
DeleteTotally agree! Thought this same type of thing this morning and realized what I was doing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful confirmation, Elizabeth.
Julie, I love this saying, "think what you're thinking about". It's so easy to just let our thoughts run rampant.
DeleteWhat a great point about the enemy trying to gain a foothold by capturing the first thoughts of the day. I'm going to remember that and fight back with praise and Scripture.
ReplyDeleteI am grateful for the teaching I heard on this. It's helped me many a time.
