The Hubs and I head home tomorrow after a little getaway to one of our favorite places.
I've been enjoying having my devotions outside by Lake Washington the past two days.
Something about sitting near the water, whether it be the sea, a lake or a river
while reading God's Word and journaling is so soothing and restorative.
Whenever I feel stuck or dry in my devotional life a simple change in location often does the trick.
Spending time with God while enjoying His creation is one of my favorite things to do.
still following,
My thoughts, too... I posted something similar on Friday, but my time of refreshment was at the ocean. Thank you for this reassuring verse paired with such a beautiful photo.
ReplyDeleteI love devotions by the sea!
DeleteDear Elizabeth
ReplyDeleteHow I wish you could come for a visit here at Gonubie. You could sit every morning looking over the Indian Ocean doing your devotions!
Blessings
Mia
I want to come too! smile
DeleteMia, I think you'll have a full ladies' retreat of a bunch of us if you don't watch out!
DeleteLooks like a lovely spot! Enjoy your trip. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! We're home now, but we did have a great time!
Delete"He leads me beside the still (quiet) waters," wrote David. Still waters are certainly restorative places for me. I'm so happy that you have been having these blessed times during your days away, Elizabeth.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rebecca! It was great.
Deletewhat a treat and so pretty!
ReplyDeleteIt was a treat, but we're home now, which is another kind of treat. :)
DeleteOh this is beautiful and the perfect verse with it--it restores my soul just looking at it. Thanks dear friend. I ALWAYS look forward to your posts. They are life-giving.
ReplyDeleteAnd YOU are life-giving to me!
DeleteBeautiful my friend. So thankful you were able to get away!
ReplyDeleteMe too! We needed it!
DeleteThere is something about water restoring dry bones. I have had the best times with the Lord at the ocean or lakeside or even poolside in the early morning. Your picture is beautiful... I am heading up to a lake tomorrow. Can't wait. Blessings to you! Love, Rachael @ Inking the Heart
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. Have a blessed time at the lake!
DeleteYes, I totally agree - having my Quiet Time and journaling close to beautiful, refreshing water - the best! (Visiting from Still Saturday linkup)
ReplyDeleteBeing outside in creation reminds me that the Creator is still in control!
DeleteThanks, Dayle!
ReplyDeleteI'm there with you Elizabeth. We retreated to Seabrook this last weekend and it was so w o n d e r f u l and restful!
ReplyDeleteWater can be so peaceful!
ReplyDeleteIt sure soothes my soul!
DeleteI'm so thankful He leads and He restores. Being able to meet with our precious Lord by the water(for this desert dweller)is icing on the cake. :) Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree, Stacy!
DeleteLovely! Psalm 23 is such a special one, and on my list this year to memorize with my girls. I agree, water is restorative in so many aspects. Makes me want to find some of my own and simply listen to it! Have a blessed and safe return home.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carrie. Such a good idea to memorize this chapter with your girls!
DeleteBeside Stil Waters is where I live [next to a lovely stream] and blog. Love this verse and I join you full heartedly in seeking these quiet places for refection and prayer.
ReplyDeleteJealous that you live near a stream! How wonderful!
DeleteA delight Elizabeth. My husband and I just returned from two days in Lake Geneva, WI. We were able to do a two hour boat tour on the lake and that quiet time on the water among God's creation does leave you restored. Wishing you a safe return home.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Beth
That sounds like a lovely time, Beth!
DeleteI love being by water too! No wonder we connected. I feel peaceful by water.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! I wish I live near water!
DeleteBeautiful picture. I have to travel quite a ways from my desert backyard to find water, but I agree that a change of location or spending time with God in his creation breathes new life into my spirit.
ReplyDeleteBut there's an awful lot of beauty in the desert, too. We love to vacation in the Palm Springs area, which is funny, since I'm such a sea lover!
DeleteHi Elizabeth,
ReplyDeleteThe water stills my soul. I feel so peaceful when I am around it. My post involved water as well but it's focus is on how much the Lord values rest. We just got back from Carmel, CA and I drenched myself in the life of the ocean.
Blessings,
Janis
Beautiful picture - it captures the feeling of peace and restoration. I especially love daisies too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kym!
DeleteJust gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. I sure appreciate you coming by and taking the time to comment.
