One of the favorite things in my house is still my copycat version of
You can read the original post on how they came to be here.
Last weekend I did some deep cleaning at my house,
which included taking everything off the shelves,
re-oiling the wood with Old English,
and giving everything on the shelves a good scrubbing and dusting.
When I put everything back I discovered that my cookbooks fit inside this old Coke crate on the shelves, so they no longer fall over.
The pop of color on the old crate is fun as well.
The mason jar drinking glasses I made, fit inside this old milk bottle carrier on the shelves.
I love old bread boards and have collected quite a few while out thrifting.
These shelves are definitely a "no regrets" project, that I love more than ever.
Well, it's almost Friday, friends!
Have a HAPPY, HAPPY Friday
and
a BLESSED weekend!
Your space is so clean and bright. I have one of those wooden Coke crates, too. I LOVE it for transporting hot food to others' houses and our back yard party shack.
ReplyDeleteMy space is clean and bright because I'm not herding a house full of kiddos! :)
DeleteDon't you just love it when you find a piece that resonates so deeply. I have a 1930's oak medicine cabinet with a frosted ArtDeco style mirror. I love it every morning when I brush my teeth. Sadly, my mother's face is the reflection I see in the mirror. I wonder why that is? :)
ReplyDeleteOh man, I feel the same way. When I look at myself in the morning, before makeup, I say, "Why hello Mama!"
DeleteI loved it when you first shared it and I loved it even more when I got to see it in your home. I love the way you've decorated with things you use. Want to come redo my house? I'm ready for a big change!
ReplyDelete~Adrienne~
Yes, I do want to come and help you redo your house. Seriously!
DeleteLove the way you've styled the shelves...the books in the old coke crate is brilliant!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sandi! I kind of wondered why I hadn't thought to do that with the cookbooks long before.
Deletereally cute. I'm impressed with your housekeeping and slightly jealous of your bread board collection. I love seeing posts of your home, you've got such a fun style.
ReplyDeleteWell, I don't have a house full of kiddos, so keeping things clean is a lot easier nowadays. And the breadboards are from thrift stores, except for my olive wood one from Israel.
DeleteI remember when you first did those shelves so I will quote a favorite "uncle" of mine:
ReplyDeleteLoved them then.
Love them still.
Always have.
Always will.
Grin.
And believe it or not, that "uncle" is Uncle Si from the show Duck Dynasty. I might as well admit it that I watch it all the time.
ReplyDeleteLOL!!! I love them too! I hope I never tire of their rustic look.
DeleteI love these shelves!!! You did a wonderful job filling them with great stuff.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Amy! As I said, the shelves are one of my favorite things as well.
DeleteI love this display!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Amanda! So glad you popped by!
DeleteHi Elizabeth, I checked out the Restoration version, too, which is now MORE than $2,000! These shelves are perfect. I love the way you fit them right next to your refrigerator, which makes it disappear. And I think the cookbooks in the Coke crate are brilliant. It's fun looking at both posts and seeing how you've changed things up. I love your style--God has gifted you. Thanks for sharing, and have a blessed weekend.
ReplyDeleteYep, that was my goal to hide the side of the refrigerator, besides to add storage in my wee little kitchen!
DeleteElizabeth I appreciate your kindred 'thrifting' spirit, as it is the way I shop, too. So many wonderful bargains. And you know how to make it look beautiful. The coke crate for cookbooks is brilliant.
ReplyDeleteI love to thrift. I've just starting thrifting for a young couple I know who have opened a vintage store...so I hunt down goodies and sell them there on consignment.
DeleteYou inspire me. Love this, Elizabeth!
ReplyDeleteSmiling, because it's your writing expertise that inspires me!
DeleteLovely, lovely, lovely!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ginger!
DeleteI would never have guessed that you made that piece, Elizabeth. Very cool! Your collections look great displayed like that and I'm sure the extra storage is awesome too. Wishing you a great weekend,
ReplyDeleteElizabeth at Blue Clear Sky
Well, I didn't make it, but a friend of ours did. I get the ideas, but someone else has to use the power tools!
DeleteLove your idea of putting your cookbooks in the Coke crate!!
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
Thanks Mary Alice. I kind of wondered why I hadn't thought of it before!
DeleteI love what you did with your shelves!! - yesterday we hit up a brand new outlet mall we got and I was SO excited to see we now have a RH outlet!! Since I'm not as handy building something, I'm hoping I can keep my eye out for a bookshelf at the outlet......in the mean time, I'm collecting some goodies like you have ;) thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up to I'm Lovin' It! I featured your post in my wrap up http://tidymom.net/2013/creative-projects/ have a great rest of the weekend!
Thank you so much! If you lived closer I'd connect you with the friend who built them for me!
DeleteLove it, Elizabeth, even more this time around.
ReplyDeleteThanks, friend. Haven't been spending or creating much this summer, so I may have a few more repeats!
