(edited with Kim's 1011 texture, dark mode, 50% opacity)
Today's Texture Tuesday photo prompt is "Simple".
I thought and thought and decided to photograph a simple ironstone bowl full of brown eggs.
(edited with Kim's 063 texture, multiply mode 30% opacity)
For some reason, I think brown eggs seem healthier,
sort of like brown rice is better for you than white rice.
I know it makes no sense.
(edited with Kim's villa texture, screen mode, 30% opacity, then I erased most of the texture from the eggs and bowl)
I wish I could tell you these were gathered from my own chickens
or, at the very least, purchased at a nearby farm.
The truth is that I buy my eggs at Costco.
How unromantic!
(edited with Kim's rest texture, screen mode, 30% opacity)
I think my two favorite shots are the top photo, which is pretty heavily textured,
and the last photo with no texture at all.
Which photo do you think is "eggs-actly" right?
( no texture added)
still following,
Beautiful, simple still lifes!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jill! I love still lifes!
DeleteLOVE so much... always love simple egg photos... yours are perfect....
ReplyDeletexo, Kim
Thanks, Kim! I appreciate you and all you do for us so much!
DeleteVery clever to have thought of eggs, a simple food but ever so delicious! Lovely images.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carmel. Eggs have a simple beauty don't they?
DeleteTake a few eggs and put them in a bowl... simple but oh so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt was a no brainer, but fun to shoot anyway!
DeleteI love the top image eggs make such perfect props and you can get to eat them as well ! Visiting from Texture Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteFood is one of my favorite photography subjects!
Delete1. I love your photos.
ReplyDelete2. I giggled at the statement that brown eggs are healthier because I feel the exact same way, and for the exact same (no good) reason. LOL
3. Then, I giggled about it being unromantic to get them from Costco because I get that too.
Debbie, I find that often things sound more romantic then they actually turn out to be. My daughter got a cute little coop and three chickens, the limit here in the city. It was when our youngest granddaughter would pick up the chicken poop and try to eat it that the chicken keeping ended!
DeleteLovely shots. I know how blessed I am to have parents and a daughter who raise chickens. Fresh eggs are a staple at our house.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! My daughter tried to have chickens in her yard for awhile but she was tired of the mess and gave them to my other daughter...then one by one they died. I guess we're not good farmers.
DeleteI feel the same way about brown eggs!! We have chickens and we raise them quite free, they eat fresh grass and everything natural, and ALL their eggs are brownish. I see white eggs in the supermarket and I think they're white because the chickens are raised in artificial light and eat junk. I'm not sure though... :P
ReplyDeleteI make textures too but I prefer to use them rarely. I prefer the non textured photos, but in this case I like how you used the textures as well. Lovely photos!
I think egg color has to do with type of chicken, right? I'm no farmer so I don't really know! :)
DeleteWonderful images! I always love the 'from above' shots, your second image is my favorite. I buy brown eggs too. I have always thought they were healthier, I don't know why either. :)
ReplyDeleteIsn't that funny, Michelle! The brown ones are prettier at least!
DeletePhotographs of eggs are always a favorite of mine. They are truly the most quintessential simple of all. I love the organic feel of these pictures - simple styling, natural colors, uncomplicated. The last picture is my very favorite!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Donna. I guess the truth is that God's creation in it's simplicity is impossible to improve upon!
DeleteLove your photos! My favorite is the bottom one - au naturale!
ReplyDelete~Adrienne~
Thanks my sweet friend!
DeleteThe epitome of simplicity and beauty!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Barb!
DeleteBeautiful photos - I usually prefer photos with no texture, but I really like the first one.
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm loving the fact that I can trade fresh eggs for violin lessons!
That's awesome, Jill! Someone brought my son-in-law and daughter two dozen eggs of all sorts of colors, blue to brown. They were so lovely. I wished I could have photographed them!
DeleteLovely eggs.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, it was a fun prompt to work with.
DeleteBrown eggs are beautiful....I was raised on them, I know. As for your delightful photos, I prefer the top one, too. I've just always felt that if I apply a texture, I want to see it. :-)
ReplyDeleteEvelyn, I'm still not all that proficient at photo editing, so I usually keep it simple.
DeleteThey are beautiful. Costco eggs work very well. Thanks for the chuckle.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Earl! You're a great encouragement!
DeleteWonderful shots, I really love the third one and seeing all the "freckles" on the eggs ! Truly simple, love it ! Visiting from Texture Tuesday :)
ReplyDeleteI really never noticed how unique each egg is until I photographed them! Thanks for your kind comment!
DeleteThis is the perfect subject for "simple." I like the second to last photo, with the dreamy texture. Your white bowl with the brown eggs turned out to be just right!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Sharon! I enjoyed this week's "simple" prompt!
DeleteThese are beautiful, Elizabeth! Brown eggs and ironstone ... two of my favs! :)
ReplyDeleteTwo of my favs as well, Lynda.
DeleteI love the first one the best, with the chalk type writing. Super fun. We have chickens on our little "urban farm" and I'm still giddy every time I find a little egg in the nesting box.
ReplyDeleteI would be giddy too...I just would want someone else to do the work part of the keeping chickens! LOL!
DeleteYes, different kinds of chickens lay different colored eggs. I grew up on a farm, and our chickens laid brown eggs - so I always assumed the white eggs at the store were "pasteurized" and that's what made them white ~! It wasn't until I was older that I learned the truth! But I still prefer brown eggs over white eggs. And your "simple" shots are lovely, Elizabeth!
ReplyDeleteThanks, June! I do wish I had access to all of the other lovely colors that eggs come in! isn't God's variety amazing!
DeleteThese were terrific. your photos where some of my favorites from Kim's prompt!! I like them so much, I'm going to put you on My LTTL Pinterest board :-)
