Friday's Faves....a visit to South End Antique Mall in Aurora, Oregon

Just twenty four miles south of Portland is the historic town of Aurora.
It's filled with lovely historic buildings and many antique stores.
My favorite is the South End Antique Mall.
I thought I'd take you along with me and show you a few of my favorite things,
starting with this beautiful old store cabinet.
Wouldn't it made a perfect kitchen island?
You'd have to have a large kitchen, and a lot of money, as it was pretty pricey!

I really like this farmhouse style cabinet with the screen door.
It's only $129, and there's a big sale for Memorial Day weekend, so maybe it will be even cheaper.
Now where'd I'd put it in my wee little house is another matter altogether.

I spy a French street sign!
Do you see it?
I'd love it, but can't justify spending $159!

This smaller pie safe style cabinet is cute, and affordable too!
If it was a different color, it might have come home with me, but again,
where would I put it?

A farmhouse style hutch filled with transfer ware!
I love it!

This white cabinet with the red paned door is my favorite.

Here's a beautiful old wooden secretary desk and church pew.

Milk glass and other assorted glassware sit on top of this beautiful old tablecloth.

What are your favorite items in this photo?
I love the small cream colored cabinet, that large butcher block,
the white hutch, and that painting of Mr. Hood.

Here is an interesting white dresser,
with room to hang small clothes.
It would be perfect for a nursery or child's room.

I like this old kitchen cabinet.
Those old metal dust pans hanging on the wall bring back memories.

Hello, pretty farmhouse table!

Here's an art deco style corner hutch filled with colorful fiesta ware.
Cute painted step ladder, too!

I love that ironstone pitcher and bowl,
and the old wooden box caught my eye as well.

I just window shopped this trip,
but might have to go back for the big sale at the end of May.
In the meanwhile, I leave you with this good piece of advice.

Well, it's almost Friday, friends.
Have a HAPPY, HAPPY Friday
and
a BLESSED weekend!

  1. I love the floral coverings on the blue chairs with the farm table. Where is the blow mold? Where are the quilts and tablecloths? (I'm very focused in my antique-ing!)

    1. Brandee, I am often on the quest for somethings specific...right now it's an 8 inch hobnail milk glass pitcher or antique bread boards...and the hunt, which can take a long, long time, is much of the fun.

  2. So many of these items remind me of my grandmother. A person could spend a good long while in that fun shop.

  3. Hi Elizabeth! My husband just loves places like this. We often spend an hour or two if we're driving around, slowly taking in each room. I really liked the wood pieces. We've been looking for a piece for the hallway with a bench and hooks...it's been a while. But it's fun to look :)

  5. Oh, the white cabinet with red screen door was wonderful!
The best thing about having a smaller house is that there is no room for more things! It's great for the budget. ;)
I can see why this is a favorite place of yours!

    1. So true about there being some advantages to having a smaller house...I have to purge and declutter often, then I go thrifting and antiquing for new treasures!

  9. Thanks for taking us antiquing with you! We love the same thing, Elizabeth. To me, it's so incredibly relaxing just to go and look, and dream, and imagine. I don't even have to buy.

Happy Friday right back to you, my friend.

  10. Antiquing is so much fun! Antique shops are a great place to look for props for photos and also a trip down memory lane. I think my mom had one of the red dust pans that are hanging on the wall. :)

  11. It's a good thing I don't live in your neck of the woods--our taste is too similar--except where you were looking at the farmhouse table, I had my eye on the stack of suitcases and the oval frame. :-) Thanks for sharing yet another wonderful antique mall with us.

    Blessings!

  12. I love Aurora. The last time I was there I bought the first in a series of books by Jan Kirkpatrick....."A Clearing in the Wild". It is historical fiction of how the settlers came to the NW and ended up settling there. Boy oh boy, did they have to endure many hardships. I don't know if I could have survived or not.

Thanks for sharing the lovely pictures. I hope you can go back to Aurora over Memorial Day and find lots of good deals.

  13. Oh, you were at my favorite antique mall near my home! Without me! I know what you can do with that sweet yellow pie cabinet - you could buy it and 'store' it at my house! Will I see you there Memorial Day for the sale?

    1. We stopped by the antique mall on the way home from the Woodburn Outlet. Our grandson wants some new Nikes for his upcoming birthday. I would like to go on the Saturday of Memorial weekend, so if I do I'll call you!

  14. Thank you for taking us thrifting with you! I am glad to see so many similarities in antique and vintage from the West coast to the northeast. I live in Upstate NY and was told that our vintage is different than most places. I was worried about what I was missing out on! From what I can see from your pictures, vintage is vintage and antique is antique all across the country!!

    1. AnnMarie, I thought that the midwest, south and east part of the US would have older antiques than here on the west coast.
