Saturday morning, the final morning of our church leadership retreat, our daughter called us saying that her preclampsia symptoms had worsened, making it necessary for our grandson to be born over five weeks premature.
We rushed home from the Oregon Coast to be with our girl at the hospital.
Evidently, making a baby come when they're not ready to, isn't all that easy!
This evening, (Mother's Day!), at 5:56 he was finally born.
He weighs 4 lbs. 9 oz. and is 17 1/2 inches long.
Mama and baby are healthy and well.
{Our grandson's tiny foot next to Papa's hand.}
Here he is all bundled up in the NICU.
The three concerns with premies are making sure their lungs are fully developed and clear,
and that they can maintain their body temperature and sugar levels.
We were told he's "spunky" so they are hopeful he won't have to stay in the hospital too long,
but your prayers would sure be appreciated.
I'm sure you'll understand if I'm not around much this week.
I'll be helping my daughter with the two oldest grands and spending a lot of time at the hospital.
gratefully yours,
