(Kim's just a touch 2, add mode, 30% opacity)
For Tuesday's Texture Tuesday photo challenge I got the idea to try shooting a still life of things
I'd typically find thrown haphazardly on my nightstand.
My nightstand, unfortunately, isn't made from planks of rough wood like the bottom of this crate
that I often use for my still life shots.
I also added a small watercolor that I painted to the shot,
which isn't something found normally laying on my nightstand.
Books, my glasses, my phone and my favorite bracelets are all items that collect on my nightstand,
(along with other miscellaneous things that aren't all that photogenic).
(Kim's touch of-1, lighten, 20% opacity)
(Kristy's sugar cookie texture, multiply mode, 50% opacity, then desaturated 40%)
(Kim's 2303 texture, multiply mode, 25% opacity)
(PicMonkey's time machine flo filter, 50%, Kim's waterfront-18 texture, lighten, 10% opacity)
I think the third and fourth photos are my favorite.
It was fun to style a shot that I was trying to make look spontaneous and random.
still following,
lovely photos with such a gentle processing :-)

Thanks for stopping by my blog and taking the time to leave your kind comment.
DeleteThey are all lovely, but there is just something about that last shot. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, that shot seems to be the favorite of the majority.
DeleteBeautiful dof and I love your iPhone case.
ReplyDeleteBarbara, thanks so much! It was a fun series to photograph!
DeleteBeautiful 'random' images. My favorite is the last image, all the different textures and the dof is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Michelle! I really ended up liking these "off the cuff" photos, too!
DeleteThese are great, Elizabeth! I really like the first image - it's a snapshot of your personality in some ways! Your painting, the bracelets and your iphone cover all show your love of nature. Interesting how there is order even in the randomness of our lives!
ReplyDeleteJune, funny that I never noticed that, but you are so right!!!
DeleteHi Elizabeth! That pinecone sketch is so pretty, I really like that! I'm afraid that all your photo notes are lost on me, but I'll just sit here and enjoy the frames and stillness of the shots :)
ReplyDeleteHave a good Tuesday!
Ceil
Ceil, the notes are just how the texture is added to the photo. Glad that you enjoy the photos anyway!
DeleteLovely set of images! Love your phone case.
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking time to stop in and comment!
DeleteLovely series! I think the last two are my favourites, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jill!
DeleteWhat a wonderful idea for a photo shoot! My favorites are the ones of your bracelets. I think we have the same style love in jewelry :)
ReplyDeleteSharon, what fun that we have similar taste! I was trying to think of what to photograph when I noticed the things on my nightstand and had a "lightbulb moment"!
DeleteI think number one is my favorite--love those leather bracelets! Phone case is awesome!
ReplyDeleteHi friend! It was fun to do a more informal still life of random things.
DeleteLove your random items series. My favorites are the first and last. I really love your hand painted watercolor. It is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI honestly and truly wish I understood what all you chicks are talking about when you do the schmancy textures and such with your photos. I basically have the following skill set: Point, click, load, take- to- picmonkey- to- make- it- look- less- awful, repeat. I don't even know what textures are. (Hangs my head)
ReplyDeleteI love your still life, btw. Your skill makes every picture look professional.
Love your photos, love your bracelets, love your glasses, and love your painting! You have great style and you are an artist as well!!!!! You go girl! :) Oh!....and love your blog! :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings~ Cindy
oh, and I forgot you phone case....awesome! :)
ReplyDeleteNice! My favorite is the first! patsy
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your stills!
