In spite of the fact that it's mid August and the weather is still warm,
there are signs that autumn is just around the corner.

The official first day of autumn isn't until September 23rd,
but I smelled a hint of it in the air today
as we drove through the farmland between the Willamette Valley and the Oregon coast.

I felt the nearness of fall last week on a refreshingly cool day
that followed on the heels of the hottest day so far this year.
It was cool enough to enjoy a cup of hot tea in the afternoon.

I'm not one who wishes away my days, longing for the next season in the midst of the season we're in.
I love summer and am savoring every last day of it.
Autumn will be here soon enough.

still following,
Though I love my summers, autumn is slowly making its way up our mountain. Almost time to pull out the pumpkin spice cappuccino! And, I can't wait for hockey and football season!!
ReplyDeleteLove your photos - so serene.
GOD BLESS!
All of the pumpkin candles are in the stores now.
DeleteYes, fall is coming here, too - I'm starting to see yellow leaves on the trees ... and on the ground! Warm tea sounds perfect.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful still lifes. I think my favourite is the third - love that angle.
I notice a few yellow leaves too!
DeleteI love to see a sign that fall is up ahead right smack in the middle of the dog days. While I have finally learned to enjoy each season a bit more, I love fall so much that any reminder of it just makes my heart sing a little bit.
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking lately that since I'm now in the "autumn of my life", I should REALLY be enjoying this time. I try to remind myself of that.
Debbie, yes, enjoy each day, each season, that God gives you!
DeleteI see signs of Fall everywhere I look! The tippy top of our big front tree is beginning to change color. You have to look, but you can see it. The 'feel' of impending Fall is definitely in the air. I love Fall so I'm looking forward to it but I'm enjoying the last days of Summer. Have a great vacation, dear friend
ReplyDelete~Adrienne~
Thanks, friend. We will enjoy each of the remaining days of summer, and then embrace autumn when it arrives as well.
DeleteBeautiful image, makes me want to sit down and have a cup with you, I wish I didn't wish away my summer but here in the desert it is hard not to find myself longing for Oct to hurry up. Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteTo share a cup of tea with you would be a delight. Do you live anywhere near the Couchella Valley? We love it there.
DeleteYou make hot tea look wonderful. And I'm trying to learn to like it, but I'm such a coffee person. Maybe I'll give hot tea another try this fall!
ReplyDeleteI'm a coffee girl in the morning, but decaf tea later in the day. :)
DeleteI love that next to last shot, showing the steam - so perfect, Elizabeth! I'm with you, enJOY the JOurneY! Have a blessed week!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! I am determined to enjoy the journey!
DeleteBeautiful shots , autumn is a great season !!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Aenee!
DeleteYou captured the steam! That's been one of my goals...as yet not attained. I seem to lack the best kind of background. That cup is a beauty; I'm a lover of blue, so it's especially attractive to me. We, too, are feeling just a bit of fall maybe: the dew has been fairly heavy recently, which is good here in the dry country. As always, your photos are singularly peaceful and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI think it takes a darker background to catch the steam, perhaps. It was more luck, than skill!
DeleteBeautiful set of images! I love your tea cup, with design on the inside too. I'm also starting to see signs of the changing season - there is something to love about each season (although I am really loving our summer this year - and I hate to see it go!).
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I hate to see summer go, as well.
DeleteI have felt hints of autumn in the air here in the foothills of NC, as well. It's my second favorite season of the year, although I appreciate all of them for their distinctiveness. Lovely cup you shared today. I like how you give your edit recipes, too.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Anne, for your encouraging comment. Each season has things to love about it.
Deletewe still have a fair bit of summer to go, but i can sense that the days are getting a little shorter. your mug shots are so lovely! and i just adore that blue mug.
ReplyDeleteKelly, I love the mug too. A Homegoods find.
DeleteLovely images. Great that you were able to capture the steam. Well done.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Carol!
Deletebeautiful...........
ReplyDeleteThanks, my friend!
DeleteGood Morning,
ReplyDeleteI love your blue and white coffee cup! I collect blue and white, too. And that cookie looks yummy. Have you shared that recipe with us yet? Beautiful pictures, as always! Have a wonderful week.
Blessings,
Cindy~
Cindy, I love my newest cup as well. It was $3.99 at Homegoods, and even though I have a cupboard full of mugs I couldn't resist it! The cookie is a Hobnob, and imported cookie from England bought at World Market.
DeleteLovely work.
ReplyDeleteThank you! It was a fun shoot and edit!
DeleteSo peaceful, I love the way the texture adds the steaming atmosphere of a hot cup of tea!
ReplyDeleteI thought so too, Kristy! I did, by luck more than skill, capture the steam, but the texture enhanced it beautifully!
DeleteYummy still life.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Marilyn!
DeleteI like the shape of the cup and spice chai is a favorite in this house too.
ReplyDeleteAbrianna, I adore this tea and that I can get it decaf and enjoy it in the evening. The cup was a happy find at Homegoods for the thrifty price of $3.99!
Deleteit's been awhile since i've visited, and i've missed dropping in, Elizabeth ... your images are simply beautiful! we had some fall like temperatures here, as well, but summer isn't quite over yet! the weatherman is saying mid 90's for the next few days ... seems like my daily 'hot' cup of tea will have to wait a little longer! (your cup is very pretty, by the way!) hope you have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to have you here, Deborah! Thanks so much for taking the time and for your encouragement to me!
DeleteOur leaves are beginning to show sings of changing. If only the weather would get cool and stay cool. I'm ready. I love that mug of yours... it is so cute. Reminds me of my pottery. I don't know if you know just how much your still-life photos have improved... they are stunning every time. I mean they were fabulous before, but man oh man you put out some brilliant stuff now.
ReplyDeleteWow! Thank you so much, Lisa! That is a huge compliment coming from you! Your photos inspire me.
DeleteNow, that's a fancy cup of tea!
ReplyDeleteIt was delicious, too, Betty!
DeleteIt's been more like early fall all summer here….except this week when the temps have spiked into the 90s with heat indices more than 100F! Your teacup is lovely and your compositions are just as nice!
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely feeling a touch of fall here! Love your tea cup! :)
