Whenever we get home from a trip, I start puttering around the house.
I guess the way I ease back into real life is by nesting.
When we got home from vacation last Friday,
I made these September changes to my mantel before I even unpacked my suitcase!
Joy is my "one word" for 2014,
so these metal letters have been displayed in different ways in my home all year long.
I'm still in love with this little Goodwill oil painting I picked up last year.
Old mustard crocks are also Goodwill finds,
and make great vases for some dried flower and feather arrangements on my mantel.
The set of old books by Charles Dickens is also a Goodwill find.
Goodwill should pay me for advertising!
The mirror on my mantel shows you a peek of my bread board gallery wall.
I was so proud of myself that on our entire vacation I only spent $18 antiquing,
but I did spend $24.99 on this deer head at TJMaxx.
I had a gift card that paid for it though, so that made it free, right?
Well, it's almost Friday, friends.
Have a
HAPPY, HAPPY Friday
and
a BLESSED weekend!
Everything looks so nice. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, friend!
DeleteI love the feathers. I've told my girls they need to find and collect some!
ReplyDeleteI had to buy my feathers at the craft store!
DeleteYou must have an amazing Goodwill near you! Love the little painting!
ReplyDeleteI live just a few minutes from four great Goodwills and two Salvation Army thrift stores. That's living in the city for you! So, when I go to the bank or grocery store there's always one nearby for me to pop in and to take a quick look around.
DeleteOh, Charles Dickens :) and that painting is adorable...the post is live now...sorry, you had to wait...and Elizabeth, I wish you could help me decorate :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Dolly! I'm popping over there now!
DeleteI think the words over your mantel describe how I feel about you. You bring joy to my life, to the world with your words and posts. Thank you for sharing and giving yourself away here. xo
ReplyDeleteAh, you are a sweetheart!
DeleteI adore your September mantel display...just perfect for the change of season! Those Dickens books are fabulous.

Thanks, Mary Alice!
DeleteThe Dickens books are a real treasure. Your deer head gave me a chuckle. very nice September decorating.
ReplyDeleteAbrianna, thanks! I am so blessed to have found that set of Dicken's books, and my deer head brings a smile to my face too.
DeleteHi Elizabeth
ReplyDeleteLove this mantle vignette...the metal joy letters are simply fabulous. Wondering about the stick that the banner is hanging on - does it have any significance? Looks partly black on the edges...wondering if it was a repurposed item....(Love anything repurposed!!) Catherine
It's a branch with some of the bark still attached. I found it on my walk one day and it had the perfect curve in it to go over the mirror.
DeleteLove love love your decor. I love the word choice. I may have to consider doing this for 2015.

Thanks, Aubrey! I've been praying about what my word should be for next year, too.
DeleteMy poor, sad mantel is still sporting its July 4th theme. I must transition it! Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteWell, mine stayed pretty much the same from Memorial Day until now, so don't feel too bad!
