A really great ironstone find!

Monday was a busy day of running errands.
Right next to the produce market I go to is a big, new Goodwill.
So, of course I popped in there for a quick look around.

For the first time ever at a thrift store, I found a real ironstone tureen.
Finding inexpensive ceramic tureens is common,
but the difference between that and real ironstone is significant.
The minute I picked up the tureen it was very heavy so I knew it was ironstone,
then I turned it over and saw the marking.
It's also in perfect condition with no chips or cracks.

Can you believe that I walked out and left it?
I wanted to "think about it",  but decided to go back and buy it.
It was $12.99 and my research online has identical ones selling for $80 to almost $200!
My husband said I should sell it, but I'll enjoy it for a while first.

I am learning to do that, to enjoy my finds for a while,
but to sell them or give them away if/when I tire of them.

In the meanwhile, I'm enjoying this find quite a bit.

still following,

  4. Oh that's beautiful! You must have really good thrift stores in your area. I never find things like that. Then again, I probably pass them up!

  6. You got a great deal! I love the style - it's perfect on your table. I need a good resource for selling things. I'm going to have a lot to sell one of these days. Need to simplify life and move things along.

    1. I actually contacted a seller at Camas Antiques and she bought some other ironstone that I no longer wanted. I bet you could unload some of your treasures to one of the dealers in your town.
