Welcome to my home!
I live in a wee little house in the beautiful city of Portland, Oregon.
and today here's my living room.
I made the wall display over the old blue dresser more "Christmas-y".
Here's what it looked like before.
The nativity on the dresser is a wooden one from the toy company, Melissa and Doug.
I wanted one that the youngest grandkids could touch.
On the other side of the room is the fireplace,
with the mantel decorated simply this year.
An old wooden tool box is filled with greens and pinecones that I "glittered".
Old mustard crocks are filled with greens, pinecones and feathers
and sit atop my set of old Dickens books.
On my old trunk/coffee table sits a tray that holds some of my favorite Christmas books,
and some of my collection of Universal China's Woodvine pattern.
We decided to get a small table top tree this year, because we're having a houseful for Christmas.
A full size tree takes up a lot of space that can hold chairs and people!
I think it's so cute!
Next to the fireplace is my antique library table and wooden cubby.
Last year I used the 24 spaces in the cubby as an advent countdown,
this year it holds some of my favorite collectibles, including vintage santa mugs.
Since this photo I've added two more!
And here is the view from the living room back down the hall to the front door.
Thanks for coming by!

ReplyDeleteThanks so much, friend. Love you!
DeleteIt's perfect! I love what you've done to bring the spirit of Christmas to your home. I'm still decorating - needed to help my dear mother get her shopping and decorating done. That's a story in itself! Now I'm working to keep things simple and use what I have, which is too much. Sorting out and keeping only what touches our hearts. Your home is an inspiration!

DeleteSo fresh and beautiful, Elizabeth! I really like your tree-in-a-bucket! For a tiny house, it makes so much sense. It gives me an idea for the future...there are only two of us here and rarely do our sons come home for Christmas now I want a tree and decorations, but the space our tall artificial tree requires is too much. Your home is so lovely and so welcoming.
ReplyDeleteI really like it too! It's a real tree with all of the yummy smell, but I'm happy to still have my living space!
DeleteI love it all. I visited the other parts today as well and enjoyed visiting you in your home. I once lived in Portland, OR ...back in 1978-1982. I loved it there and do miss it at time. May your Christmas be blessed, ~ linda
ReplyDeleteI had no idea you had ever lived in Portland. Small world!

ReplyDeleteBeautifully done! You've made your home so cozy and festive for the holiday. I adore the framed deer head and the cute cow cutting board with the festive wreath - - so cute.
