The Light shines on...

This world is getting darker and scarier.
This may make me sound like an old lady, but it's just not the same place I grew up in.
Moral absolutes have been thrown out the window, along with good old common sense.
The horrors that mankind does to each other gets worse and worse.
It's all too easy to give into fear, get overwhelmed and give into hopelessness.
But when God says never, He means NEVER.
The darkness has never overpowered the Light.
God is still at work in this world.
He is still at work in and through His people.
The darkness can never, will never, extinguish the Light of God.
If you are in a dark situation or just overwhelmed at the darkness of our world in general,
turn towards the Light.
Jesus is the Light of the world.
When God says always, He means ALWAYS.
Be encouraged, friends.

    1. Amen! I love Romans 15:13 about hope, "May the God of your hope so fill you with all joy and peace in believing [through the experience of your faith] that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound and be overflowing (bubbling over) with hope."

  4. Morning Elizabeth,
    Amen..............
Wonderful Reminder.........cause sometimes it can feel like the darkness is winning, but we have to remember that is all that some folks focus on, and all
we hear in the news............but in the midst of it all, good things are always happening too, they just don't get reported or as much attention.
I am so thankful to know Jesus, the true light of the world, who gives us peace in this dark world.
Know Jesus, know Peace..............No Jesus, No Peace,

    Have a wonderful weekend hon,
    Nellie

    1. I wish there was a Good News channel that told about all of the things that God and His people are doing in the earth.

  6. This makes me think of Joshua 1:9- Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. - I like that the verse doesn't say God will be with me but that he is with me.

    1. Susan, you are so right. God's still on the throne, nothing surprises Him, and oh what a day when Jesus comes back and makes wrong things right!

  8. Amen, Elizabeth. It is up to us to shine for Jesus in these dark times. I agree with Nellie. There is a lot of good going on out there but the media likes to focus on the not so good.

  9. Thank you for the reminder - just found you and can't wait to explore your posts. I sometimes feel there is more dark than light when reading the news...but it only takes a little spark (like your blog) to remind me that light will always win. Thanks again,
    Elizabeth

  11. A great verse to remember. Jesus is the light of the world--and he asks us shine for Him, through Him. I was as a conference today with the topics of sex trafficking and abortion. We ended the day by lighting candles and singing a song with this last line: "Take your candle, and go light your world."

  12. He is all I can ever rely upon. When born in Portland...nearly 70 years ago... it wasn't perfect as far as I know, but the necessity of the Lord to pour the Light around and about continually is very important there and many other places. My heart is heavy and worshiping and rejoicing and relying upon Him is all I can do, all WE can every do. Thank you much for sharing so beautifully!!
