I haven't posted any home decor photos since last summer when we sold our home in Portland, Oregon
and moved across the Columbia River into Vancouver, Washington.
We moved in the first part of September but have been renovating and updating our new to us house ever since.
We've still got a few things we want to eventually do to the house, but the biggest jobs are done.
We updated the lighting in the living room, kitchen, dining room and bathrooms.
We put in updated faucets.
We replaced all of the flooring in the entry, living room, kitchen, dining room and hallway
with birch solid hardwood.
We replaced all of the kitchen appliances with stainless steel,
including plumbing for gas to the range and installing a gas stove with a double oven.
(By we I mean a myriad of various wonderful friends and family members.)
The house had a large kitchen with a breakfast nook and a small family room off of the kitchen with a fireplace, seen here in the realtor photos.
The large living room, right behind the fireplace wall, was supposed to hold a formal dining area on one end,
seen though this pass through window.
We knew when we bought the house that we wanted to used the family room as a large open dining room,
and the living room/formal dining room as one large living space.
So, we opened up the wall and turned the gas fireplace around to face the living room,
and gave the mantel an update as well.
We painted the oak mantel white, then topped it with a thick piece of old salvaged wood.
We also removed the old tile and replaced it with this gray brick like tile.
What a joy to be able to decorate my beautiful new mantel for Christmas!
Here's a post on how I made the pom pom wreath last year.
And where the fireplace used to be, in what is now the dining room,
we did a little farmhouse shiplap treatment.
I'm a homebody at heart and I love fluffing my nest.
It makes me happy to be able to share our new to us home with you!
still following,
I love looking at your new home and I REALLY love the way you decorated for Christmas. You want to come do mine?
