Keep on asking...
I love a good coupon deal! Just recently I was able to buy almost $80 worth of baby clothes for a baby shower for $28 because of a cash back coupon, two nice fluffy hand towels for $1.28 total because of a $10 off coupon, and $12 worth of merchandise at another store for $2 because of another $10 off coupon.
Not everyone likes to use coupons, however. My husband and I and three other couples went out to dinner for a birthday celebration a while ago. The restaurant that we were going to had a coupon deal going on, so naturally I brought the coupon along. On the way there, we all had a discussion about using the coupon, and some people in our group confessed that they don't like using coupons. That's hard for me to understand, because to me it's like turning down free money!
The whole coupon discussion got me to thinking about how sometimes we approach God's Word in a similar way. (Join me for the rest of this post on Sunday, October 2nd, at Woman to Woman Ministries where each Sunday I share a bit of Sunday Soul Food!)

I read the full post. Prayer - God's coupons! Perfect! Also a great reminder that we need to be persistent in prayer.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Julie. So glad that you were encouraged to keep on praying!
DeleteWhat a lovely comparison when reading your entire post that you finished by sharing on Woman to Woman Ministries. Even though I know full well that the cross settled everything for me, and that I am Chosen and Forgiven...I still have trouble asking, but I'm learning. Your post helps. My son also taught me that to receive is a blessing and my nature was to always repay if received anything, but I now gracefully accept gifts from others without feeling I have to reciprocate.

I'm always blessed when God encourages someone who reads these posts. I love the encouragement to receive that your son gave you!
DeleteThank you for this!!! I think, for me anyway, I get afraid to ask. Not for health things but for material needs for myself. Almost like, if it is meant to be it will be....so I don't ask specifically. AND so many others have serious health needs that seem so much more important.
ReplyDeleteI've sold my house and now need a new one. I see one that seems to fit the bill (in many ways) online. I am going to another state and won't be able to get down there for a couple of weeks. I am going to ask that God will hold it for me!!!! Your post has encouraged me...THANK YOU!!!!
