Psalm 23 is one of those chapters in the Bible that most everyone has heard at some time or another. Perhaps you've heard the saying, "familiarity breeds contempt"? While our familiarity with this Psalm may not breed contempt it may blind us to some of its powerful truths.
"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever" is the most common way we've all heard verse six of Psalm 23. Recent translations more correctly translate the word follow as pursue. still following,
still following,
Such a gorgeous photo of a rose...love the droplets of dew (or rain?) And so fitting with that bible verse.
ReplyDeleteIt was rain. I think it's a pink camelia but it sure does look very rose like!
DeleteWhen I read your scripture, my mind did do a momentarily halt at pursue so than it relaxed and liked your explanation. So glad he does pursue and sometimes relentlessly. Thanks for the inspiration today.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing to think that God is determined to catch us with His goodness and mercy. There is no ho hum attitude in His intention towards us, which is so amazing and comforting!
DeleteI like the idea that God is going to pursue me with goodness all the days of my life.
ReplyDeleteThe picture of the rose with droplets of water is just gorgeous.
I hope you have a good week...
God bless your week as well, Hannah!
