A friend came by for lunch and a bit of antiquing this week and while we were out and about I spotted this pedestal bowl. It was a good price, but I didn't buy it because of my recent efforts to declutter and get rid of excess stuff. The next day I couldn't get it out of my mind so I went back and bought it. My goal is that for every new item that comes into my house something must go out. So, I went though my decor again and actually ended up finding and donating several items that I haven't used in a long time and no longer love. Even though the last time I went through my decor was only a couple of weeks ago, I still found more stuff that I was needlessly holding on to. It feels good to let go and makes me not feel smothered by stuff when I do get something new.
I, of course, had to "play" with my new pedestal bowl when I got it home. I tried a few different arrangements on my table featuring the pedestal bowl, but it wasn't until I noticed that my neighbor had pruned some branches from her flowering tree that it all came together into a spring centerpiece that I love.
I'm excited to see these branches bloom!
Have a happy Friday
and
a safe and blessed weekend!
I sure wish something was blooming here in Pa. but we have 10 inches of snow outside;( I Love, LOVE all your cutting boards!!!! I just wish I had 2. Can never find any I can afford!
ReplyDeleteI've collected my breadboards at thrift stores, Homegoods and my son-in-law hand made me some. I'm so sorry that your winter is dragging on! Thank God that Spring has to come eventually!
DeleteIt's perfect! And I think it's even more beautiful than it was in the antique store! So glad you went back and got it.

Me, too!
DeleteHi Elizabeth! I do love your composition with your new pedestal bowl. The branches in water are perfect for this time of year. Is it just me or are we seeing more and more of branches in clear vases now in decor on TV and magazines? I am in declutter mode too with my accessories...I need to follow in your footsteps and find more to pass along to someone else to enjoy. I love your bread/cutting board collection too.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I agree that clear vases with branches or flowers are seen a lot lately! I like the look, and these IKEA vases, (I have this one and a larger one, are perfect for the look but can also be used to hold a large candle in the winter.
DeleteDecluttering is so freeing! I have lightened the load so much in the past two years. I was keeping way too many things that I never used and not longer loved!
You created a beautiful centerpiece for your table. The pedestal bowl was the perfect item to pull it all together...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Hannah!
